English: A Class 373 high-speed EMU passing South Elmsall. It is operating a GNER service from London King's Cross to Leeds. GNER leased some of these EMUs from Eurostar from 2000 to 2005 to supplement its InterCity 225 fleet and provide extra capacity on some of its services. Most units were painted into GNER's livery, but others remained in Eurostar livery but with all Eurostar branding removed. These units were limited on services to York and Leeds - they were not used on services to Edinburgh Waverley, Glasgow Central or Newcastle because the loading gauge in the Newcastle area was unsuitable for these units, and they were not used the daily service to Bradford Forster Square because the electrical infrastructure was insufficient to support these trains. In 2007, Sea Containers, the parent company of GNER, was stripped of its franchise due to poor financial management.
