BONE MARROW: ACUTE PROMYELOCYTIC LEUKEMIA, MICROGRANULAR VARIANT (AML-M3V) Blood smear from a 47-year-old male with microgranular acute promyelocytic leukemia showing a marked leukocytosis with abnormal promyelocytes. The promyelocytes vary in size and degree of cytoplasmic basophilia. The cytoplasm contains abundant, fine, azurophilic granules. The nuclei are markedly lobulated and invaginated.
