English: Bogbean (Menyanthes trifoliata) This flower puts in only an occasional appearance here on the acid heathland, abundant in some years, but absent in others. As its name suggests, it prefers the wetter parts of the heath; it is a native species and is aquatic or semi-aquatic, growing in shallow water, bogs and fens. The upper surface of the petal carries long white hairs, giving Bogbean's flowers a feathery appearance.
